Goodbye Mother!

Our mother passed away on August 22, 2004, after losing a battle with cancer. She was over ninety, we are not exactly sure by how much. She was a tough lady. She raised seven children and lost one at birth. She saw her children placed relatively well, all of them; something that never was a guarantee in her circumstances. She saw hard times and good, always worked from dawn till dusk, and even with her weather-beaten and frail body remained relatively active till almost the very end.

In Memory of Mother

This is the photograph of a candle lit in memory of Nirala Kalita at an overnight walk for cancer warriors and survivors held at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. She was the wife of Benudhar Kalita of Nagaon. She was the mother of Lakheswar Kalita of Arunachal, Jugal Kalita of Colorado, Jukti Kalita of New Jersey, and Hiranya Kalita of Nagaon. Her three daughter-inlaws are Kunu Kalita of Arunachal, Bonmayuri Kalita of Colorado and Suravi Kalita of New Jersey. Her granddaughter Swagata Kalita lives in Arunachal and her grand-son Ron Kalita lives in New Jersey.

Volunteering “My life” – a Real Path

How many of us think about volunteering for some good reason. This seems to be a new term in this modern materialistic world, but this is not true. There are several areas an individual can volunteer and learn from its experiences. Here are few of my real experiences. I was lost in the streets of a small town named Tezpur situated in Assam.
