Sankardeva Tithi Celebrated in Mumbai

mumbainaam_prasanga_2.jpgAssam Association, Mumbai celebrated the 559th birth anniversary of the great saint and social reformer Srimanta Sankardeva on the 12th of October, 2008. On the occasion of the birth anniversary, Assamese people of Mumbai assembled at Assam Bhavan, Vashi. The celebration started with ritual “Naam Prasanga” performed by Assamese community of Mumbai. The Prasanga ended with the religious Ashirwad ceremony. It was then followed with the distribution of “Mah Praxad”. Afternoon lunch was provided to the entire members in the form of “Khichiri”. Jahnu Baruah and other prominent Assamese personalities of Mumbai joined the celebration.
