Saleena was born in 1998 in Torrance, California, to my long-time friend Dhruba Kalita and his wife Hilly. From a very young age, she has been keenly interested in various artistic forms. She won an award of excellence in Art when she was in Grade 2 from Seaside School in Torrance.
As she grew older, she has taken great interest in drawing Japanese animation characters, such as, Naruto, Avatar: The Last Airbender. Lately, she has sketched and painted nature and realistic objects, including a quiet home in a beautiful forest.
In addition to drawing and sketching, Saleena is pursuing Kathak and has had many performances. She plays the guitar and plans to have a band of her own. She is doing well in Tae-Kwan-do and tennis. She is an animal lover and has adopted a puppy, Nibbles, from shelter.
She speaks Assamese fluently and loves visiting her two grandmothers in Assam frequently.
