Premier Show of an Assamese Film Prem Joubonote

image001.jpgThe premier show of the Assamese movie "Prem Joubonote" was held in Cinema 2 of Northwest Film Forum in Seattle, Washington, USA, on September 13, 2008. For the first time, the premier show of an Assamese movie was organized in the USA. Prem Joubonote is being produced by Vavani Sarmah, a Non-Resident Assamese (NRA) and directed by Loknath Deka of Assam with assistance of Vavani Sarmah. The story, script and dialog of Prem Joubonote are by Mr. Dharmakanta Rajbanshi of Goreswar, Kamprup, Assam. Munin Talukdar, Ananta Senapati, Babli of Seattle were very happy to be in the premier show and said that they watched an Assamese movie in a theater almost after 10 years. Ms. Earlene, Drama and Film teacher of Tahoma School District, Washington, says that quality of the movie is very good and the acting of Chetana Das, Arun Hazarika, and Jit is entertaining. Iftikar said "The movie is very good and entertaining". Mridul said "It is amazing to see such a good movie that has been produced in such a short period of time." Mrinal Rajkhowa was interested in knowing more about the budget for the movie and said that "Prem Joubonote is very entertaining and quality is very high". Mapi Bose says even though she did not understand all the words in the movie, she enjoyed the story and says it is very entertaining". Sujata Talukdar said that Swagata and Biki are doing really good and looked great in the movie.


Vavani Sarmah, producer of Prem Joubonote stated in his opening speech that there may be few mistakes as it is his first project and says that he is very encouraged and inspired from the support of the Greater Seattle Assamese community and looking forward make more Indian movie in future. DVD/VCD of Prem Joubonote is available on sale at www.assam.org. Ms Earlene says that she is looking forward to see more Assamese movies in the near future.

Good gr8 to see that vavani is speading the oxomiya movies across border to have a première for the first time in US. As to the best of my knowledge on speaking with the UK based assamese, we have never had oxomiya cinema première of oxomiya cinema in UK.
