An invitation to be part of Global Bihu Celebration in April 2009

Assamese communities worldwide celebrate Bihu in the same gusto as back home. To showcase the events across the world, a Global Rongali Bihu Sanmilan, is being held in Guwahati on May 3, 2009. The event will be attended by a huge audience accompanied by well-known personalities of Assam.

3 satellite TV channels in Guwahati will cover the event. A live webcast of the event is planned which will be available at all Assam related portals: www.assam.org, www.guwahati.com, vendanti.com, etc.

The event is being organized by Vedanti Net in collaboration Leo Advertising.

Here’s what to do to:
1. Record your event using a Handycam. Transfer the video into your computer, preferably in mpeg format.
2. Please prepare an agenda of the event beforehand and circulate among the participants, guests. A detailed report of the event may be prepared after the event is completed. This should be sent along with the video; copy of the event celebration committee must be attached - this can be prepared like details such as
a. Present members of the committee,
b. When was the committee formed initially,
c. The details of the present cultural sequences that was recorded in the video,
d. Names of participants
e. Any milestone of the committee.
3. Recorded video should not be more than 30 minutes of playing time and should be recorded preferably at HD format or high resolution and correspondingly compressed in mpeg2 format. If any editing is required, it may be done but file attribute should not be made read-only as further editing may be required at our end.
4. While recording care should be taken so that
a. There is enough indoor lighting,
b. No meaningless panning, jerks or vibration— better if the camera is kept steady in a stand within 5 meters of the area of presentation
c. Individual deliberations should be zoomed to half bust position so that the face becomes prominent and occupies at least 60% of camera exposure area.
5. Please do not try to put text animation or effects on top of video, this normally disturbs the exposure. Preferably, no text / graphics should be embedded on video; we only need clear and clean steady video with noiseless audio.
Optional:
· At least one member of the designated Bihu committees may come live on the scheduled day of Global Bihu 2009 (date will be announced soon). Time should be made keeping in view that it would coincide late evening or night at Guwahati so that it can be shown live here.
· Please be online, arrange a web camera and make sure it works: Please test it beforehand.
· Please be ready in advance. We invite you to be live along with your family and friends. Better, if you let us know your preparation for live presence and about your possible friends/family. Also, it will be good, if you please send us a small note about yourself/your family. This will help is to prepare texts to be announced during the event.
Bihu Greetings
· If there is no organized Bihu celebration in your area, don’t worry! You may recorded a video message – an example may be: ‘xamuh razoloi rongali Bihur xubheshya jonalo’ – Please tell us your name with a very short introduction. Please use your creativity! Please keep it short.
· For couples, we invite you both of you to come on the video along with your children in the video.
