We have great pleasure in introducing Assam Times, an online newspaper from the Assam. Assam Times is a humble endeavor to cater to the population of North East India spread across the world. This is an online newspaper that concentrates on local news from every nook and corner of Assam. The primary objective of this online newspaper is to connect the people from the northeast living around the world and convey news and share information related to the community besides serving as a platform for sharing of thoughts, ideas and common belief.
This is a newspaper for the people and by the people. All can contribute to the online newspaper. A team of ‘editors’ located in various places monitor the site for latest news submitted by ‘reporters’ from every nook and corner of Assam. The newspaper is continuously updated and which means is that news is available in it at any given moment of time, reported directly from the place of event. You can view this several times a day to keep yourself updated. The newspaper also gives the readers the option to comment and rate various articles. So it serves as an interactive forum. Past news items are archived and available through in-built search engine. News photographs, video clips of interesting news are part of the news items where available.
The site allows reporters a unique opportunity to build their online portfolio, which help them seeking greater opportunities in their career, etc. There is also opportunity for advertisers to spread any message across the world, aiming the Assamese community living around the world.
This is the first of its kind of an e-newspaper, promoting Citizen Journalism, also known as public or participatory journalism or democratic journalism, which is the act of non-professionals playing an active role in the process of collecting, reporting, analyzing and disseminating news and information.

Assam Times is being promoted by Assam Times Foundation. The Foundation is has been setup to promote Citizen Journalism (CJ) in the North East region. The people behind the Foundation come from diversified experience: journalism, education, business, economics, governance, and Information & Communication Technology (ICT). Assam Times is neither politically affiliated nor do the Assam Times Foundation hold any individual or collective bias on political, religious and cultural lines.
