Binapani Puja Committee has been celebrating Sarodio Durgutsove since 1870 at its permanent site located on Madhabdev Path, North Haibargaon, Nagaon, Assam. It is the first Sarbojanin Durgapuja in Nagaon District, initiated under the leadership of Late Keshab Ch. Hazarika and Late Konpai Das of the locality. Through its 140 years of glorious celebrations, this puja has attracted devotees from all sections of the common irrespective of caste, creed and religious belief. The committee can boldly claim that during the memorable days of puja celebrations every year. The puja mondop become a hub, wherein people get the opportunity to chat and enjoy various functions contributing to communial harmony, in addition to offering the pujas by the devotees.
With the changing screnario of time, social need, expectations of the devotees coupled with the ever increasing strains of management of such a big Durga puja; the permanent members of the committee, decided to raise a permanent Durga Mondir and install white marbal stone idols of the deities with arrangements of offering diurnal pujas. The impelled initiatives of the devotees started last year and the Deigratia of Mother Durga Devi, the dream of raising the Mondir intrastructure has materialized already under the sculptorship of Sree Ganesh Bora, who endeavours to make it like the famous Kamakhya Temple . Apparently the dream of the Puja committee appears to be fulfilled within next couple of years as any one who has been approached, contributed something to this pious megaproject of common devotees. In a recent meeting of the committee it was decided to approach the devotees residing elsewhere within the troposphere of mother Earth, with a humble request to ponder over the inherent ideology of installing the permanent Durga mondir to extend relgious services and social obligations to all sectins of people irrespective of caste, creed and religious belief and consider about contributing personally or as a society towards materializing this dream. Your valued suggestions and contributions shall be recorded in the century old Record Book of the Binapani Puja Committee in red letters.
