Diary of a Phoenix

(In  memory of Sabina Saigal Saikia who was killed in the terrorist attacks in Mumbai in November 2008)

The mad frenzy cannot go on for ever.
The Nazis had sprouted and grown.
They were uprooted!

Anne Frank’s diary wasn’t lost;
Rather it turned into a lake of life.

The mercenary Lashkars may come
By sea  or by air.
The Taj on earth shall never stoop!
The wings of countless doves are aflutter!!
Each moment rings with the sap of its life.

Condolence and Prayer Meeting on Sunday 30th November 2008 Blacktown, Australia

A month ago to date – the state of Assam witnessed a series of blasts simultaneously at a number of places across Assam – well planned and coordinated. A large number of ordinary people were killed and many hundreds were injured in broad daylight in crowded market areas, oil refinery locations and minority established areas – a careful choice of sites representing the centers of politics and administration in the state – all indicating an attempt to create utter confusion in the state and centre level of government. In fact it is an assault in multiple fronts.

JUST FOR ASSAM Gatherings for Solidarity and Oneness Russell Square, London

The evening started with a brief introduction to how Just for Assam was born followed by an outline of the “Spirit of Oneness” at different places worldwide to express solidarity with the terror victims of 30th October Assam Bomb Blasts. Sadly, the timing happened to be the immediately after yet another atrocity in India, the Mumbai tragedy and that it was only appropriate to include the victims and their families of both the atrocities in our thoughts and prayers.

Destination Pune

Every educated and well-meaning parent desires that his or her child have the finest education so that the child can have a prosperous and fruitful life. When it is time for the child to receive higher education, usually the parent gets dutifully involved in the search for an educational institution that is best for the child in every possible way: it provides good quality education in a good environment, and of course it is located in a place that is safe for the dear child.

Messages from Around the World condemning the recent Assam bombings

We urge the government to take strict measures to prevent further attacks in Assam by the terrorists and bring the culprits to justice. Delhi Protest Against Heinous Assam Attacks

Around 300 individuals attended the candle light protest against the recent bomb blasts in Assam, held near Jantar Mantar, New Delhi  on 11/9/2008 at 3:30 PM to submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister/Home Minister protesting the recent serial blasts in Assam and to show solidarity with blast victims. Each attending individual was requested to bring two pieces of black and white ribbons to tie on the armband.

Learning from the Blast

The recent gruesome bomb blasts in Assam exposed the fact that no one anywhere is safe from the nefarious activities of the terrorists who wants to achieve “whatever they have on mind”. The blast claimed so many lives and destroyed so much that it would leave an irreparable fear and pain on the psyche of Assam for years to come. For many, things may become normal tomorrow; and of course life will go and maybe this incident will be forgotten within months but being complacent and not taking steps will not be a solution.
