ASSAM 2009, the grand get-together of Non Resident Assamese and their well-wishers was held at the Marriot Hotel in Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA on July 3 and 4 July. People came from all corners of the USA and some from Assam.
British science fiction author, inventor and futurist “Arthur C Clark “ had once said “Sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” And his words resonated loud and true on a unique and unforgettable event, which took place in Assam recently.
Annual General Meeting of Assam Society of America (Axom Sangha) was held in Marriot Hotel, Colorado Springs, CO, on the sidelines of ASSAM2009. The meeting was presided by Dr. Ganesh Bora and opened up with thanking the ASSAM2009 host committee for giving the opportunity to gather in the 4th of July week-end. The members present discussed various projects initiated by ASA. Following members were present in the meeting.

While some of India’s other classical dance forms have undergone revival in the recent past prior to their modern glory and popularity, Sattriya is not just a classical dance form for us even though it originated within the sacrosanct premises of the Sattras more than 500 years ago.
You may vaguely remember the record-breaking flood of Iowa last year! It broke a hundred year old record. All city government buildings were under water in Cedar Rapids.
He was and is addressed as “Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi” because he was and still is sincerely loved by the people of Assam. It was not something that he sought for or wanted, but his acts and deeds were so noble and kindhearted that people could not help loving and respecting him. Without expecting anything in return, he worked selflessly dedicating his life to his people and country.
