Assam2007: A Community Get-together of Assamese Abroad

Assam 2007 is part of an ongoing effort to bring together the scattered Assamese Diaspora in North America for a celebration of the rich and diverse heritage and culture of Assam and the Assamese people. In the past, similar events were held in Boulder, CO (Assam 2002) and St. Louis, MO (Assam 2003). Continuing on the past tradition, Assam 2007 will embody the celebration of Assamese heritage and culture, and is organized by the Assamese community of North America.
Sanchayita was six when she iscovered that people paid to watch movies. Since her family was involved in the film business, watching films was not just a regular event, but film business was dinner table conversation. Sholay was the first film to hit her emotional cord. Maybe because the terror was psychological or that she thought Sanjeev Kumar was her father’s look-alike, it caused her pain every time she watched it.
